Capturing Love Through the Lens my Favorite Couples Photo Session
As a photographer in Nassau Bahamas, I have the privilege of capturing love stories in one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Today, I wrapped up the final session for Yitty and Shlomo, a beautiful couple visiting from upstate New York. It was their first official photoshoot as a couple, and I had the honor of documenting their journey through my lens. Every couples session is unique, but there was something truly special about these two. Their chemistry, energy, and contrasting personalities made for a stunning collection of images that I wish I could share with the world.
First Impressions
A Unique DuoI’ve met many Jewish couples before, but Yitty and Shlomo stood out in the best way. Shlomo, a tall, bearded man with a rugged appearance, exuded a quiet yet strong presence. His supportive nature was evident in every moment. Then there was Yitty—petite, full of life, and bursting with random outbursts of fun that made the entire session feel effortlessly joyful. Her energy was infectious, and it translated beautifully into her poses.
Meeting new clients always involves an icebreaker, and this session was no different. We started with casual conversation about their visit, the Bahamian culture, and their experiences so far. I kept it light and engaging, allowing them to relax in front of the camera without feeling overwhelmed.
Finding the Perfect Chemistry
Our session began near the flamingo habitat at Baha Mar. Once I dialed in my exposure settings, we got to work. Given their height difference and distinct personalities, I wanted to see how well they would take direction. That’s when I learned that Yitty was a “let me see” type of gal. She wanted to ensure every image was just right, making sure they complemented her and Shlomo perfectly. Her face lit up with each preview, and there was no need for words—her smile said it all.
Shlomo, ever the supportive husband, was all in. His warm, infectious smile made it impossible not to smile back. We explored several locations around Baha Mar, capturing a mix of candid moments and elegant poses. As a photographer, there are moments when you just know a gallery is going to be incredible. This was one of those moments.
A Session That Became an Experience
What was supposed to be a one-hour session stretched to just under two hours. We wrapped up with both fun and intimate moments on the beach, capturing the essence of their bond. Photos on the beach always bring a magical element to any session, and this was no exception. But our story didn’t end there.
I delivered Yitty’s gallery earlier than expected, and her reaction was priceless—she loved the images so much that she wanted another session. Without hesitation, Shlomo agreed. The second session had a completely different vibe, with the couple in swim attire, embracing the tropical paradise. Though I can’t share the photos, I can say without a doubt that they were nothing short of breathtaking.
We transitioned to a dock, where we created more couples’ portraits and a few solo images. The golden-hour sunlight backlit the scene perfectly, adding a dreamy, cinematic feel to the shots. Every moment felt natural as if the camera wasn’t even there.
Learning Through ConnectionAfter the session, I finally asked the question that had been on my mind: “How long have you been married?” That one question led to an incredible conversation about their culture, traditions, and perspectives on marriage. I also shared a bit about Bahamian traditions, and we found common ground in our belief that love, marriage, and relationships require commitment, effort, and sometimes even counseling to thrive. No matter the cultural differences, love is universal.
A Love Story Worth EmulatingYitty and Shlomo’s sessions weren’t just about taking pictures—they were about capturing the essence of their relationship. They reminded me of the power of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Their story is a beautiful example of what it means to embrace each other fully, to cherish the little moments, and to celebrate love in all its forms.
To Yitty and Shlomo—thank you for trusting me with your first official couples’ photoshoot. Thank you for being open, vibrant, and a joy to photograph. Most importantly, thank you for being a love story that others can admire.
